CCRE Presents Spring Conference: Respect, Racism, and Patriotism: Talking About Taking a Knee
On a Spring morning in early May approximately 140 registrants attended the annual CCRE Conference including 50 licensed social workers and professional counselors attending to receive continuing education credits in the area of social policy and racial justice education. Many thanks to the McDaniel College Social Work Department for their support and sponsorship of the CEU opportunity.
On August 24, 2018, Carroll County Public Schools hosted it 2nd Annual Culture EXPO at Winter Mills High School. The attendance increased in size since last year. Participants were welcomed to the event by the sounds of a drum circle and enjoyed a day of entertainment, enlightenment and appreciation.
In late 1967, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke of the need to work for the human rights of poor people all across this country. Rev. Dr. King explained, “… If you are, let’s say, from rural Mississippi, and have never had medical attention, and your children are undernourished and unhealthy, you can take those little children into the Washington hospitals and stay with them there until the medical workers cope with their needs, and in showing it your children you will have shown this country a sight that will make it stop in its busy tracks and think hard about what it has done.”
